- FUEN 2019 Congress was held in Bratislava

The 2019 Congress of the Federal Union of the European Nationalities (FUEN) hosted by the Carpathian Germans and the Hungarian minority in Slovakia was held on 12-16 June 2019 in Bratislava / Poison / Pressburg, capital of Slovakia. As the members of FUEN Working Group of Turkic Minorities/Communities (TAG); ABTTF as the representative of Western Thrace Turks, Rhodes, Kos, Dodecanese Turks Culture and Solidarity Association (ROİSDER) as the representative of Rhodes and Kos Turks, International Society of Meskhetian Turks “Vatan” and “Vatan” Public Union of Ahıska Turks living in Azerbaijan as the representatives of Ahıska Turks, Crimean Tatar National Assembly , as the representative of Crimean Tatars participated at the congress at which the 70th anniversary of FUEN was also celebrated.

- FUEN Education Working Group Annual Meeting was held in Brussels

Annual meeting of the Education Working Group of the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) was held on 6-8 May 2019 in Brussels, capital of Belgium. As the members of FUEN Working Group of Turkic Minorities/Communities (TAG); ABTTF, Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (BTAYTD) and Friendship, Equality, Peace Party (DEB), representatives of Western Thrace Turks; International Society of Meskhetian Turks “Vatan”, representative of  Ahıska Turks and Qırımtatar Milliy Meclisi, representative of Crimean Tatars participated at the meeting held in parallel to the first European Regional Forum on Minority Issues organised by Fernand de Varennes, United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues with the support of the Tom Lantos Institute on 6-7 May 2019 in Brussels.

- ABTTF and EFA co-organized a conference on education at the European Parliament

Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) organized a joint conference at the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels on March 20, 2019 with the European Free Alliance (EFA) which has a political group within the European Parliament. Conference with the theme “Fundamental Problems in Education Facing Minorities in Europe: Comparing The Cases of Western Thrace Turks and German Minority in Denmark” was hosted by MEP Josep-Maria Terricabras, Vice President of the Greens/ EFA Group in the European Parliament and Co-Chairs of the European Parliament Intergroup “Traditional Minorities, National Communities and Languages.

- Turkish-Muslim Foundation Goods in Greece (Kos) are being sold out by auction

Turkish-Muslim Foundation Goods in Greece (Kos) are being sold out by auction.  

There are foundations belonging Turks and Muslim in Rhodes and İstanköy(Kos) of Greece. When government of the Islands was left to Italia it was decided that a commission would manage assets belonging to Foundation. When the Islands were left to Greece in 1947 the law numbered/dated 517/1947 was enacted.

- Third FUEN Caucasus Seminar took place in Tbilisi

Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) held its third seminar in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, on 10-12 December 2018 within the scope of the Project “Minorities in the Caucasus: Dialogue for a Stable Future”. The seminar which was organized in 2016 and 2017 in Flensburg where FUEN Headquarters is located on the border of Germany and Denmark, organized in Caucasus for the first time. At the seminar entitled “Political Participation-Dialogue at Eye Level” hosted by the Association of Azerbaijani Lawyers in Georgia, Georgian example was examined within the context of its dialogue with countries where the minority communities live in Caucasus.

- 74 years have passed since the Meskhetian Turks were sent into exile

Today, we are commemorating the 74th anniversary of the exile of the Meskhetian Turks. The Meskhetian Turks were sent into exile 74 years ago, on 14 November 1944 following to the decision signed by Stalin, Soviet Leader. 92.307 people were rounded up from Meskheti, Adigün, Aspinza, Ahilkelek, Bogdanovka and 220 surrounding villages were sent into exile to Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan). From the ones exiled, 45.985 were children while 18.923 were elderlies and 27.399 were women. During the journey which lasted for 40 days, 12.859 people lost their lives because of hunger, cold and diseases.

- Halit Habip Oğlu visits Macedonian Turks in Skopje

Halit Habip Oğlu, Vice President of the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN), paid a study visit to Skopje, capital of Macedonia, on 30 August -1 September 2018, to meet with Turkish community in Macedonia. At the study visit hosted by Yeni Yol, Cultural and Fine Arts Association (KGSD) which had participated at FUEN Turkic Minorities/Communities Working Group (TAG) Meeting in İzmir, Melek Kırmacı Arık, from FUEN TAG Secretariat, accompanied Halit Habip Oğlu.
