4th Annual Meeting of the Working Group of Turkic Minorities/Communities(TAG) within the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) was held on 24-27 October 2017 hosted by FUEN member Rhodes, Kos and Dodecanese Turks Culture and Solidarity Association (ROISDER). Laszlo Bodor, Director of the Campaign of “Minority SafePack Initiative (MSPI)” also participated at the meeting in leadership Halit Habip Oğlu, FUEN Vice-President.

Turkic organizations, which are members of the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) participated at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Human Dimension Implementation Meeting organized in Warsaw, Poland. Western Thrace Turks, Rhodes-Kos Turks, Ahıska Turks and Crimean Tatars who are member of FUEN Working Group of Turkic Minorities/Communities (TAG) and Kosovo Turks which is not yet a member of FUEN but attended at the FUEN TAG Annual Meeting in 2016 participated at the OSCE meeting, which is the largest conference in Europe in the field of human rights and democracy.

Mosque, Tomb and Graveyards within the historical Murat Reis Complex, in which the grave of Murat Pasa takes place, in Rhodes, Greece have been left to its fate and about to collapse due to neglect. Recently, at the beginning of July 2017, Greece Government shut down the entry gate of the Complex to prevent the tourists to see the said collapse.

Federal Union of European Nations (FUEN) presented a written statement at the 35th Session of UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva on 6-23 June 2017 and criticized the tone of the response of Greece to two written statements related to the problems of the Western Thrace Turks and the Turks in Rhodes and Kos presented in the previous session by FUEN. In the 34th session held in March, Greece against diplomatic practices used a rude, derogatory and slanderous tone as a response to FUEN that brought the problems of the Western Thrace Turks and Turks in Rhodes and Kos on the agenda.

On the Minority SafePack Initiative campaign homepage (http://www.minority-safepack.eu) the “Sign” button will allow access to the official petition system, where the respective country form needs to be accessed and the required data needs to be filled in. Halit Habip Oğlu, Vice-President of the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) paid on 5-7 May 2017 a study visit to Bulgaria upon the invitation of Kardzhali Turkish Culture and Arts Association (TÜRKSAD). During the study visit to Bulgaria where about 1.5 million Turks live, Habip Oğlu was accompanied by K. Engin Soyyılmaz from the Secretariat of the Working Group of Turkish Minorities/Communities (TAG) inside FUEN.

Halit Habip Oğlu, Vice-President of the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN), visited on 17-19 April 2017 the Turks living in Kosovo, who are one of the founder communities of the Republic of Kosovo. Upon the invitation extended by the Kosovo Youth Union Association on the occasion of National Festival of Kosovo Turks on 23 April, FUEN Vice-President Habip Oğlu met during the visits paid to Pristina and Prizren where Kosovo Turks populate intensely with the representatives of the Turkish community in the Republic of Kosovo which obtained its independence on 17 February 2008.

Federal union of European Nationalities (FUEN) paid a study visit to Kiev, capital of Ukraine, on 21-24 March 2017. In the first pillar of the visit a round table meeting with minority organizations which are members of FUEN was held on minority policy of Ukraine with participation of Lorant Vincze, President of FUEN, Halit Habip Oğlu, Vice-President of FUEN and Bernard Gaida, Speaker of German Minorities Working Group (AGDM).
